Christmas prayers from TEAR partners

This Christmas, we remember our partners around the world who are working to bring good news to communities facing poverty.

Here, we share what some of our partners will be praying about this Christmas. We invite you to join with them in prayer.

Christmas prayers from TEAR partners

SOUTH SUDAN

From our partner SEM (Sudan Evangelical Mission)
There are conflicts still going on in South Sudan. Please pray for peace, forgiveness, repentance and nonviolence.

Pray for justice and human rights for the people, especially the women, children and the most vulnerable groups.

Pray for those in governmental and military leadership that they will lead with integrity, with the best interests of the people in mind and with a servant’s heart.
Pray for the work of SEM, safety and health of all the staff as they continue to serve those in need.

From our partner ACROSS
Please pray for peace that seems so elusive to this nation and people of South Sudan. Food is scarce and very expensive, so most people can’t afford it – and is getting worse as no harvest is expected this year due to mainly conflict-related displacement

Please pray for the safety of humanitarian workers, including ACROSS staff.

Pray that the church and Christians will rise up and be agents of hope and transformation in South Sudan.

ETHIOPIA

From our partner Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC)

Please pray for the current unrest in Ethiopia, and the drought crisis here. Pray for wisdom and guidance for EKHC staff. Pray for peace.

From our partner the Ethiopian Mulu Wongel Amagnoch Church Development Organisation  (EMWACDO)

Please pray for peace, stability, and good governance for our country and for abundant spiritual, financial, and technical capacity blessings for our organisation.

Thank you for your partnership and faithful prayers. Wishing you a joyful Christmas season.

SOMALIA

From our partner Medair

Dear Heavenly Father, we exalt your holy name and give you all the praise. You are high and lifted up; you alone are worthy.

We are thankful for your comforting presence in our lives; you have been an ever-present in time of need. Our teams have always been able to go in and out of Somalia safely because of your continued protection. Thank you for our beneficiaries, whom you have so faithfully provided for; we are humbled and grateful to be used by you to serve them.

Thank you because we can always come boldly to your throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. We pray for security during this election period.

Creator of heaven and earth, provide rain in Somalia. Grant the nation peace, as you are the prince of peace.
We commit the years to come into your hands. You know the plans you have for us, plans to give us a hope and a future. Thank you for the hope you give for the people of Somalia.

We pray all this trusting and believing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

AFGHANISTAN

From our partner (name withheld), which runs a mental health project

Especially at Christmas time, we remember people like Mary and Joseph, who had to relocate for political reasons.

We pray for people from Afghanistan who have left Afghanistan, have been forcibly returned to Afghanistan or who are internally displaced in Afghanistan. We know that many of these people and many tens of thousands of Afghans who have been through these experiences in their past, live with mental disorders. We pray for those people to find the emotional, physical and spiritual help they need.

We pray for the powerful people, governments and organisations to work together to serve people living with mental health disorders; to care for them, show them that they are valued by God and give them hope.

We pray too for a real sense of peace for the country of Afghanistan and the hope for the future that accompanies peace.

PAPUA

From our partner World Relief

World Relief has been closing down its offices, and helping a new local foundation, Yasera, set up theirs. Please pray for this new organisation Yasera, which will be able to continue serving in this area.

Pray also for the community here, they are able to find hope this Christmas. Pray that they will find peace instead of violence, forgiveness instead of revenge, health instead of sickness, plenty instead of want. Pray that the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic would be reduced by the faithfulness of the church and its members. Lord Jesus, hear these prayers.

The staff of Word Relief Papua would love your prayers during their time of transition to a new organisation. Pray God’s blessings over the coming challenges: capacity building, strategic planning, team building, and fund raising. May the work of the kingdom continue in Papua.

LAOS

From our partner Service Fraternel d’Entraide (SFE)

Please pray especially for the authorities at every level of the country. Pray for wisdom, vision and healthy motivation and objectives. Pray for good collaboration between the projects and the local authorities. This is the moment to make appraisal of the work done and plans for the new year.

Please also pray for us, expatriates on the field. Thank you so much! We wish you a blessed Christmas.
