Six ideas to inspire your justice journey in 2018
As this year unfolds, have you been thinking and praying about how you take the next steps in your justice journey?
AT TEAR, we are passionate about encouraging and resourcing you to go deeper in your discipleship and personal pursuit of God’s vision for a just and compassionate world.
Here are six ideas to inspire you:
1. Join a TEAR Group
Would you like to join with like-minded people of faith who share a passion for pursuing justice and addressing poverty? TEAR Groups are a great way to connect with a supportive community and get inspired. Each group has a different focus, which can include advocacy, bible studies, prayer or fundraising.
2. Raise your voice for justice
There are lots of ways you can join TEAR’s advocacy action in 2018. To kick things off, join in our online training event in February. How to have better conversations about poverty and aid is designed to help you play a more influential part in the movement to tackle extreme poverty. Whether it’s in casual conversations with family and friends or more formal influencing settings with church and political leaders, this 45-minute training webinar will equip you with key insights from communications and social research to speak powerfully about the issues and the change we want to see. Register now.
3. Volunteer with us!
We love our volunteers, and there are lots of amazing opportunities to get involved with us. It may be a one-off volunteering opportunity at an event like SURRENDER in Melbourne or our state conferences. Or, it could be an ongoing role sharing about TEAR at your church or coming into the office to help with various activities.
Have a chat with us about what your skills are and what opportunities we may be able to offer! Get in touch with our National Community Engagement Manager Tim Johnson on email@example.com
4. Tap into our resources
TEAR has some fantastic resources you can use at home, at church or in your small group or family. One example is the Renewed Way of Living, Discipleship Group Guide. It features reflections and bible studies covering the biggest discipleship challenges of our time, including money, vocation and the environment.
Psalm 1:3 "They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do."
5. Partner with us
Did you know that regular giving is the best way to fund long-term and sustainable community development work? As little as $10 a month will help TEAR and our Christian partners walk alongside communities in places of great need.
6. Join us in prayer
At TEAR, we believe in the power of prayer. Like Jesus, we pray that “God's Kingdom come”. Join us to pray for our partners’ work, for the communities and people they are working with, for Australia, for our wider world, and for ourselves as we seek to follow Jesus. Follow us on Facebook @tearaustralia or Instagram @tearaus for regular prayer updates and inspiration.
